Spread-ul unui instrument financiar (acțiuni, valută etc.) se referă la diferența de preț dintre prețul Ask și prețul Bid. Spread este un tip de cost al tranzacției, împreună cu comisioanele, dacă există. Datorită spread-ului, fiecare tranzacție va începe cu o pierdere, deoarece cumperi la prețul cerut (ask) și vinzi la prețul de ofertă (bid).
Exemplu spread EUR/USD:
